NSWA+ Training and System Monitoring in Southern Provinces: Enhancing Customs Efficiency

The NSWA+ team has been actively implementing its training and monitoring programs across the six southern provinces of Laos, focusing on the effective use of the electronic customs declaration system. This initiative, carried out between July 22 and August 8, 2025, aimed to equip customs officers, stakeholders, and related entities with the knowledge and skills required to efficiently use the newly developed system, which is crucial for streamlining document inspection, approval, and payment processes.

Training Locations and Participants

The NSWA+ team conducted a series of training sessions and system monitoring activities in the following southern provinces of Laos:

• Attapeu
• Sekong
• Saravane
• Khammouane
• Savannakhet
• Champasak

In total, 180 participants from various sectors attended the training, including:

Provincial customs officers and officers stationed at international customs checkpoints such as Phoukeua, Daktaork, Lalay, and Paksitphan.

Representatives from related stakeholders, including:

• Department of Financial Information Technology
• Treasury Department
• BIVAC Co., Ltd.
• AIF Group
• Foreign trade banks

These participants were selected to ensure a broad representation of relevant entities involved in the customs, trade, and transport sectors.

Training Objectives and System Rollout

The primary goal of this program was to ensure that all involved stakeholders are proficient in using the NSWA+ system to perform the following tasks:

1. Document Inspection – Streamlining the process of reviewing and approving customs documents.
2. Document Approval – Facilitating the approval of customs-related paperwork through an electronic platform, ensuring speed and accuracy.
3. Payment Processing – Enabling smooth and secure transactions related to customs duties and fees.

By providing comprehensive training and system support, the program sought to enhance operational efficiency and promote cross-border trade and transport development in the southern region of Laos. The goal is to simplify and expedite the customs process, reduce human errors, and ultimately contribute to Laos' economic development by fostering smoother international trade relations.
